Travelling to Kristianstad



     Flying

  • Fly to Copenhagen (Köpenhamn, København) - Kastrup Airport: CPH.

    From there you can either take the train or drive:
  • Take the train from Copenhagen Airport Railway station directly to Kristianstad: (1 hour, 44 min, leaving every hour.).
  • The ticket costs appr. 163 SEK (Swedish crowns; appr. 16 EUR, 11 GBP, 20 USD)
    and can pe purchased using credit or bank cards (or cash).
  • Trains on Fridays leave every hour, from 5.56 until 21.56.
  • The last reasonable train leaves the airport station at 21.56, to arrive in Kristianstad at 23.40. (There is a very last one, leaving at 0.16, arriving in Kristianstad at 2.14.)
  • (To return: trains leave Kristianstad for Copenhagen Kastrup Airport every hour from 6.18 to 21.28)
  • From Kristianstad railway station taxi services to the venue (Bäckaskog Slott) operate at a special rate (250 SEK, equivalent to 26 EUR, 17 GBP, 31 USD); it takes appr. 15 min.
or
  • Drive (e. g. in a rented car) from Copenhagen Airport to Kristianstad (130 kms, 70 miles, 1 hour 30 min) (over the new toll bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden, you pay the fee at the counter on the Swedish side, cards applicable).
    • From Kristianstad drive 10 kms on E 22 dir. Kalmar, to Bäckaskog, then turn left to Bäckaskog Slott (= castle) (see map below).

    Driving

  • From the UK:
    There is an overnight car ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg on the Danish west coast. From there it is 330 kms (180 miles, 5 hrs) to Copenhagen (some toll bridges but no ferries!) plus 130 kms (70 miles) to Kristianstad
    (over the new toll bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden, see above).

  • From / through Germany:
    From Hamburg: drive 320 kms to Copenhagen plus 130 kms (70miles) to Kristianstad.
    • Car ferry from Germany (Puttgarden) to Denmark (Rödby) and toll bridge from Denmark (Copenhagen) to Sweden (Malmö) - you can buy combined tickets for both ferry and bridge at either toll booth

    From Berlin: drive to Rostock or to Sassnitz on the island of Rügen on the Baltic coast, take ferry to Trelleborg at the southern tip of Sweden (near Malmö), drive 120 kms (65 miles) to Kristianstad.
From Kristianstad to Bäckarskog Castle
  • From Kristianstad drive 10 kms on E 22 dir. Kalmar, to Bäckaskog, then turn left to Bäckaskog Slott (= Castle) (see map below).
