TRAVELLING TO BENDIGO
|Bendigo is situated 150 kms northwest auf Melbourne.
Hence the usual way to get there is flying to Melbourne and
then taking the train, the Airport Bus or driving.
From Melbourne Airport there are three ways to get to Bendigo:
Car Rental desks are in the Arrival Area; the Bendigo Airport Bus, Skybus
and Taxi are just outside.
The Bendigo Airport Bus takes you directly
to Bendigo Tourist Office. (Travel time: 2 hours. Fare: $32 one way, $55
return. Departure Melbourne: 8.30 am, 1.30 pm, 6 pm, Departure Bendigo:
6 am, 10.45 am, 3.45 pm. Booking essential: 03 5475 1386) (A
separate charter will be available for groups of 10 or more).
Take Skybus (30 min, $9) or Taxi
($A35) to Spencer St Railway Stn, then V-Line
train to Bendigo (about 1 h 50 min, $40.40 (return),
inquire about transport timetables here)
Rent a car, drive to Bendigo: Freeway
dir. City, Freeway M 79 / A 79 (Calder Freeway/Highway) to Bendigo:
From Melbourne: on the Calder Freeway/Highway
(M 79 / A 79), see above (1 h 45 min)
From Sydney: on the Hume Highway; in
- either leave Hume Hwy in Benalla, and drive on Midland
Highway via Shepparton to Bendigo,
- or leave Hume Hwy in Seymour, then West to Toobarac
(34 kms), then on Northern Highway to Heathcote, on McIvor Highway
to Bendigo (distances are the same). After entering Bendigo, the
All Seasons International Hotel is on the right at 171-183
From Adelaide: Western Highway to Horsham,
then Wimmera Hwy to St Arnaud, then to Inglewood and on Calder
Hwy to Bendigo.
From Melbourne: V-Line from Spencer
